Helen Payne was born on Jamestown, RI and was raised in Appalachia. She’s studied poetry at the Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics and art at the Slade School of Fine Art, UCL and the Maryland Institute, College of Art. She holds MFA from University of Louisville in 2019. Helen’s paintings and drawings have been shown nationally including Fraser Gallery, Washington, DC, Woman-Made Gallery, Chicago, IL, Bromfield Gallery, Boston, MA, Mobius Gallery, Cambridge, MA, the Holzwaser Gallery and the Cressman Center in Louisville, KY. Her work is held in many private collections and Governor Gaston Caperton’s West Virginia Collection.
